Organized packing - what to bring and what to leave behind
If possible, take only one piece of hand luggage per person and observe the applicable baggage regulations. Batteries, power banks, and e-cigarettes are only permitted in hand luggage. Please carry liquids in containers of no more than 100 ml in a plastic bag (max. 1 liter in total) in your carry-on baggage - this applies to all security checks (including CT scanners). Please note that the familiar restrictions are back in place everywhere!
Check in early and prepare for your travels
To ensure that the travelling day is as relaxed as possible, we recommend to take advantage of online or evening-before check-in.
Please make sure to arrive at the terminal 2 hours prior to departure. If you would like to check in baggage and/or have booked an international long-haul flight, we recommend that you arrive at the terminal 2,5 hours prior to departure (these recommendations are guidelines and without any guarantee). Please ask your airline about the check-in counter opening times. We advise against arriving at the airport too early, as otherwise you will have to endure unnecessary waiting times.

Plan your journey in advance and book ahead
The parking facilities around Terminals 1 and 2 are subject to heavy demand during the German school holidays. It’s therefore advisable to book spaces online well in advance. Alternatively, you can conveniently get to the airport using public transportation.
Meeters and greeters can use the car parks at the terminals for a fee of only € 3,00 up to 30 minutes.
Quick and convenient check-in and security checks
Use the self-service options at the kiosk for check-in and baggage drop-off. After check-in, please proceed quickly to the security checkpoint. Use our new FRA SmartWay service to reserve a time slot for the security checkpoint free of charge.
Faster entry and exit with EasyPASS and the Entry-Exit System
The automated border control system “EasyPass” enables faster and more convenient border crossing. Instead of waiting in line, you scan your passport yourself and pass through the control within a few seconds. EasyPass is available to EU citizens, persons with a German residence permit, and citizens of other selected countries. The “Entry-Exit System” is a Europe-wide border control system for the electronic recording of the entry and exit of non-EU travelers.
Well catered for – shops and restaurants at the airport
Most of the shops and restaurants at the airport are now open again during their normal operating hours, and their staff are looking forward to your visit. Besides the on-site facilities at the airport, you can take advantage of recurring special offers and services such as click & collect and home delivery in our online shop.
Information on baggage pickup
Please note that during peak times, waiting times may occur at baggage claim. We recommend taking this into account when planning your onward journey, train connections, and pick-up arrangements. In case of heavy traffic at the terminal forecourts, those picking up passengers can alternatively use the terminal parking garages for up to 30 minutes at a rate of €3.
Excellent connections - departure and onward travel
The regional and long-distance train station is just a few minutes' walk away, from where you can reach the surrounding Rhine-Main area, the whole of Germany, and other European countries. Numerous bus connections, rental cars, car-sharing services, and taxis are also available directly at the airport. If you are traveling by car, there are gas stations for gas, electric, and gasoline in the immediate vicinity.
