Travel by train


At Frankfurt Airport, regional transport provides fast connections to the surrounding region, while long-distance transport connects national and international destinations.

The Frankfurt Airport Regional Station connects the airport directly with Frankfurt, Offenbach, Hanau, Aschaffenburg, Rüsselsheim, Mainz, and Wiesbaden.

The S-Bahn lines S8 and S9 as well as the regional trains RB58, RE59, RE2, and RE3 provide fast and convenient connections across the entire RMV area, making arrivals and departures quick and easy.

The station is located in the underground level of Terminal 1 (Level 0) and is accessible from all terminal areas (A, B, C). Simply follow the signs for "Train stations S T".

Accessible Travel

Regional trains (S-Bahn, RE, RB) arrive at tracks 1–3:

The Frankfurt Airport Long-Distance Station offers direct connections via IC and ICE trains from all over Germany and other European countries. Timetables, tickets, and fares are available on the Deutsche Bahn website.

For air travelers, Rail & Fly is recommended – bookable through travel agencies, airlines, or Deutsche Bahn.

Getting to the Terminals

From the Long-Distance Station to Terminal 1

Terminal 1 can be reached on foot from the station in about 10 minutes. Simply follow the signs for “Terminal 1”.

From the Long-Distance Station to Terminal 2

Terminal 2 can be reached in about 20–30 minutes via the SkyLine train or shuttle bus. Follow the signs for “Terminal 2”.

Check-in & Baggage

Check-in is available online or via mobile from 23 hours before departure until 15 minutes before the train leaves. Baggage can be checked in directly at the AiRail Terminal at Frankfurt Long-Distance Station.
On the return journey, baggage is handed over in the AiRail area before the Long-Distance Station, allowing a quick transfer to the train. This applies to all Lufthansa Express Rail journeys (e.g., Cologne, Düsseldorf, Stuttgart, Dortmund) as well as Express Bus services (Strasbourg).
