Unaccompanied Children

Assistance for Unaccompanied Children

Children aged 5 to 11 may only fly by themselves if they travel together with another person aged 12 or more or take advantage of an escort service. If wished by their parents, unaccompanied children aged 12 to 17 can also use such a service.
If your child is making a long trip alone, he or she is looked after by the airline. They are escorted from check-in to the departure gate and after arrival at the destination from the plane to the baggage claim and exit. A dedicated check-in area for unaccompanied children and families flying with Lufthansa is available in Concourse B. The children are taken to specially supervised rooms and later escorted to their flight.
