AIRail Service
AIRail Service from Cologne, Siegburg/Bonn and Stuttgart
The AIRail Service is an intermodal transportation offering of Deutsche Lufthansa AG, Deutsche Bahn AG and Fraport AG.
AIRail comprises the following services:
Train to Plane
- Travel by ICE train from Cologne, Siegburg/Bonn or Stuttgart main station
- Train schedule coordinated with the Lufthansa flight schedule in Frankfurt
- Fast transfer
- Early intercontinental flights are also easy to catch.
Check-in: Quick and Nimble
- Possible up to 15 minutes prior to departure for the AIRail train in Cologne, Siegburg/Bonn or Stuttgart
- Specially designated Lufthansa check-in counters or machines at the train station for AIRail users
- All boarding cards for connecting flights leaving from Frankfurt also issued right at the train station
- Convenient online check-in with seat selection and online boarding card to print out yourself
- Luggage Drop and Baggage Reclaim in the AIRail Terminal at Frankfurt Airport: Bags can be dropped off until 60 minutes before your flight’s scheduled departure (please plan ahead).
Travel Times and Frequencies
In each direction there are 12 ICE trains a day between Frankfurt Airport and Cologne via Siegburg/Bonn and five trains between Frankfurt Airport and Stuttgart.
Travel times are:
* 57 minutes between Cologne and Frankfurt Airport
* 40 minutes between Siegburg/Bonn and Frankfurt Airport
* 73 minutes between Stuttgart and Frankfurt Airport

If you hold an AIRail ticket from Deutschen Lufthansa AG, you can check in for both the train journey and the continuing flight from FRA at the main railway stations in Cologne, Siegburg/Bonn and Stuttgart up to 15 minutes before the train departs. You are issued a boarding card there as well. However, you must carry your luggage with you to the airport, where you can check it right after arriving in the AIRail Terminal. It is then checked through to your final destination. The AIRail Terminal is located at the long-distance train station (on the right after leaving the glass dome).

If you land in Frankfurt and have an AIRail ticket for continuing by train to Cologne, Siegburg/Bonn or Stuttgart, you have to collect your luggage at the luggage claim in the AIRail Terminal and pass through customs there.
