Optimal Connections – Worldwide
One of the world's most important airports, Frankfurt is the home base of the Star Alliance and also served by a long roster of other airlines from all over the globe. No other European airport offers as many nonstop flights to Seoul or Shanghai, for example. Frankfurt is also intermodally linked, making it one of Europe's most important transportation hubs.
The figures speak for themselves:
- 107 airlines have around 4,285 direct flights a week to 275 destinations in 111 countries.
- It takes only three hours to fly to Madrid, London, Moscow or Athens, nine to Chicago and 11 to Mumbai or Guangzhou.
- 150,000 passengers pass through Frankfurt Airport every day.
- Nearly 30% of the passengers arrive by train, and many leave via the airport train stations: in one of the 390 trains that take them fast to destinations in the region and the rest of Europe.
- Over 170 ICE trains a day ensure immediate connections
Where the World Comes Together
Nowhere else in Europe is it this easy to make international contacts. Here at the airport, the concepts of neighborhood and nearness have been redefined. Even long distances can be covered quickly. Markets, customers and suppliers are all right in front of the door. Frankfurt Airport is the networked hub that connects them all.
A Symbiosis of Air, Rail and Road
Frankfurt Airport is one of the world's most important air transportation hubs. It is optimally accessible, thanks to on-site regional and long-distance train stations and extensive parking facilities. This lets you directly connect to regional and metropolitan trains, the high-speed network of German Rail (Deutsche Bahn) and Germany's most important motorway interchange at the intersection of the A3 and A5 superhighways.
Strong partners have pooled their competencies at Frankfurt Airport to create a seamless transportation offering. This intermodality and frequent bus, train and flight connections enable fast, straightforward transfers without any detours.
The AIRail Service to and from the Cologne, Siegburg/Bonn, Stuttgart and Frankfurt train stations is a prime example of this collaboration in a spirit of partnership at Frankfurt Airport: it lets you check in before boarding the train to speed processing at the airport.
Lively, Cosmopolitan, Multifaceted
Frankfurt Airport is frequented by an international clientele with above-average spending power. This fact alone makes it a profitable location for retailers in particular. The staff of companies operating here also benefit from special discounts, recreational opportunities and outstanding services. It's an attractive environment — and not only for working.
Room for Retailers
A Dream for Shopping Fans
The heavily trafficked terminals are an ideal setting for presenting brands and innovative concepts to an international public. Airport shopping is characterized by impulsive purchases by customers who have money to spend and are in the mood to buy, motivated by the experience of traveling with its unique psychology.
Thrilling vitality like that of the world's great cities is palpable at the airport around the clock. Stores representing prominent designers and international makers of brand-name products offer fashions, accessories and entertainment products — exclusive and trendy at once. Articles and services to meet everyday needs — including pharmacies, a supermarket, hairdressers and many others — round out the spectrum.
The ongoing modernization of existing retail outlets and the development of exciting concepts for new ones is constantly adding to the location's attractiveness.

A dynamic, expanding location - ideal
On October 21, 2011 the new Runway Northwest at Frankfurt Airport was opened. This new Runway Northwest, a third terminal and the new A380 maintenance base are meeting the prerequisites for Frankfurt Airport to keep pace long-term with growing aviation volumes. Soon 88 million passengers a year will be able to land, depart and transfer in Frankfurt. Terminals 1 and 2 are also being modernized while doubling the retail offerings there to create an even more varied ambiance for passengers and employees. The planned expansion of the CargoCity South of the airport will cover another 27 hectares. This will provide plenty of room for cargo specialists to grow with the site.
Airport City Projects
Around the airport, space is available to meet every need. All of the development projects include offices to meet a wide variety of wishes, each with its own special character:
- The unique architecture of THE SQUAIRE is a new hallmark of the Airport City. This premium property offers an exclusive working environment with seminar rooms, shops, restaurants and two Hilton Hotels.
- Not far from there, with convenient access to central Frankfurt and the terminals, the new Gateway Gardens district will enrich the eastern part of the Airport City with lively urbanity amid relaxing greenery.
- And the Mönchhof Site in the northwest of the Airport City will be the Rhine-Main region's largest contiguous commercial park for logistics companies, airport-related businesses and small retail outlets.
