The continual expansion of CargoCity Frankfurt will continue into the future, as the already available space is developed and new areas are opened up. And now a new chapter in the success story of CargoCity South is about to begin!

The ongoing expansion of Frankfurt Airport is creating new aviation capacities. These will be available to drive the growth of both passenger and cargo traffic. The airfreight volume is expected to surge to 3.16 million tonnes a year by 2020.

The cargo handling infrastructure required for this increased capacity will be developed in stages on a total of 27 hectares at CargoCity South up until the year 2020. Between now and then, some 100,000 sq.m of cargo halls will be completed, supplemented by office buildings and parking areas for motor vehicles. The plan for the first development phase calls for several cargo halls occupying about 50,000 sq.m of space to be built in 2013 and 2014.
