AIRail Service from Cologne, Siegburg/Bonn and Stuttgart

The AIRail Service is an intermodal transportation offering of Deutsche Lufthansa AG, Deutsche Bahn AG and Fraport AG.


Frequencies and Travel Times

In each direction there are 12 ICE trains a day between Frankfurt Airport and Cologne via Siegburg/Bonn and five trains between Frankfurt Airport and Stuttgart.

Travel times are:

  • 57 minutes between Cologne and Frankfurt Airport
  • 40 minutes between Siegburg/Bonn and Frankfurt Airport
  • 73 minutes between Stuttgart and Frankfurt Airport

AIRail comprises the following services:

1.    Train to Plane

  • Travel by ICE train from Cologne, Siegburg/Bonn or Stuttgart main station
  • Train schedule coordinated with the Lufthansa flight schedule in Frankfurt
  • Fast transfer
  • Early intercontinental flights are also easy to catch.

        Check-in: Quick and Nimble

  • Possible up to 15 minutes prior to departure for the AIRail train in Cologne, Siegburg/Bonn or Stuttgart
  • Specially designated Lufthansa check-in counters or machines at the train station for AIRail users
  • All boarding cards for connecting flights leaving from Frankfurt also issued right at the train station
  • Convenient online check-in with seat selection and online boarding card to print out yourself

2.    Plane to Train

If you arrive at Frankfurt Airport by plane and have an AIRail ticket for continuing by train to Cologne, Siegburg/Bonn or Stuttgart, please go right through the AIRail Terminal which is adjacent to the long-distance train station at Frankfurt Airport.

Please collect your bags from AIRail Terminal luggage claim and take it through customs there.
