Frankfurt Airport City gets own university

Frankfurt

Frankfurt Airport, one of the world's leading air transportation hubs, will be the first airport worldwide to boast its own university campus.

The new campus is scheduled to open its doors in Gateway Gardens between 2010 and 2011. This is where the House of Logistics and Mobility (HoLM) research and knowledge center – an education and training center for logistics and mobility specialists - is being built. The Darmstadt Technical University, the University of Applied Sciences of Frankfurt, the Goethe University Frankfurt and the European Business School (Oestrich-Winkel) will all contribute research and teaching capacities to the new university campus.

HoLM has the advantage of being located close to the Frankfurter Kreuz autobahn intersection and excellently linked to both Frankfurt Airport and FRA's Long-distance ICE Train Station. Thus the HoLM research and knowledge center will also be an attractive venue for international conferences on logistics and mobility.

For the realization of the House of Logistics and Mobility, Fraport AG, the State of Hesse, the City of Frankfurt, the above four universities and the Rhine-Main Regional Transit Authority will establish a joint-venture non-profit organization.
